Rhonda Jean Henderson of Houston, TX passed away May 11, 2024, at the age of 50. Rhonda was born on July 30, 1973, in San Marcos, TX to Doris Ann Crumley Montague and Rueben (Kensey) Clint Henderson, Jr.
Rhonda is preceded in death by her parents, her younger brother Jason Cummings, a very special aunt, Kathy Hosch, her grandparents David and Ruby Crumley and Rueben Sr. and Ruth Henderson, as well as her beloved boxer, Madison. She is survived by her brother, David Cummings, and his wife Julie, “Other Mom” Pam Henderson, brother Kyle, his wife Megan, nephew Kolbi and niece Kenzi. Stepfathers, James R. (Scootie) Cummings and JF (Boots) Montague, Cousin, Missy Foster, and her daughter Ruby. Uncle, Todd Henderson, his wife Debbie and their sons Wade and Brian, as well as other extended family members.
In addition to her family,
Rhonda also had an extraordinarily strong and supportive friend family (framily) that surrounded her and loved her immensely, Harriet Kelly, Lisa Tindall, Kara Boling, Jackie McLaren, Lynn Wilborn and Sterling Mullins. She had a dog niece and nephew Kennedy and Brody (her “shoe” chefs), that she adored. There was nothing she would not do for them, including making them homemade treats weekly.
Rhonda was smart and funny, always making the world a little brighter with her wit and sense of humor. She had a big heart and was very energetic, always sharing stories of her life. She was always willing to help anyone in need. Rhonda was a Chrisitan and was baptized in April of 2009. She danced often and HOPED no one was watching. She absolutely loved to cook for her friends and family and would spend many hours perfecting a dish for someone special. She was an enthusiastic sports fanatic and always kept track of all the team and player stats and movement. She especially loved the Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Braves and North Carolina Tarheels basketball (even though she had softened to the Astros and Texans as of late). She was exceptionally creative and enjoyed making things to share with others. She loved dogs and had fostered and volunteered for several Houston area rescues over the years.
She had many other passions and hobbies; she loved train engines and was always looking for her favorites when near train tracks. She would spend hours going through coins looking for special ones and would save the oddities. She loved listening to all her favorite Christian songs daily, they brought her peace. Bar none her favorite food was pickles; Rhonda never met a dill pickle she did not like. She was lucky to have a profession she loved as a life-long Payroll Professional. The world will not be the same without Rhonda in it, she will be missed beyond measure. Rhonda’s final social media post read in part “Friends help me make it a good day today and do something kind for another.” Please remember her final wish…..Godspeed Rhonda, be at peace, we’ll love you always.
Two memorial services will be held for Rhonda, one will be held at 7 PM, Saturday, July 20th, 2024, at the Universalist Fellowship Church, 1504 Wirt Rd., Houston, TX, 77055. A reception will follow. Please come prepared to share stories and some laughs. The plans for the second celebration in San Marcos will be forthcoming.
