Richard Burgess

Richard Lynn "Rick" Burgess, 68, of Vidor, Texas passed away at Memorial Herman in Katy on January 22, 2019.
Rick was born on Saturday, September 16, 1950, in Dallas, Texas to parents Harold "Lucky" and Velma Burgess. He enlisted in the Air Force at age 19 in 1970 and continued to serve until July 1976 achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He spent most of his time "in-service" stationed in Florida and worked as a Chaplain's Assistant. Upon completion of his military service, Rick attended and graduated Lamar University in Beaumont Texas with a Bachelor degree in Marketing. He spent the remainder of his life as a dedicated servant to his friends, family, employers, and community.

Rick was a father of three (3) boys and one (1) girl....guess who he liked best?? LOL. He was a grandfather to 9 and a friend to all who knew him.

Preceding Rick in death is his brothers Jimmy Craig Burgess, David Jones, Gary McVey, son-in-law Keith Carter, Sr., his parents Harold Burgess and George and Velma McVey.

Those who will cherish his memory the most are his son Scott Burgess and wife Amber of Richmond, Texas; daughter Brandi Carter of Bridge City, Texas; son Andy Walton and wife Misty of Bryan, Texas; son Derek Walton and wife Mandy of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kendra Hendricks, Kaleigh, Kamryn, Kinslei, and Brooklyn Carter all of Bridge City, Texas; grandchildren Allison and Benjamin Burgess of Richmond, Texas; grandchildren Brytni and Joshua Walton of Nederland, Texas and numerous members of his extended family, and friends.
