Robert William Lessig, known to friends as "Bob", passed away on November 14, 2018, at the age of 67 years.
Bob was born May 12, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA. to Raymond and Mary (Myers) Zimmers. He graduated in 1973 from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering. While at the U of I he was an active member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Theta Xi Fraternity. Bob then attended Indiana University and obtained his Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Real Estate in 1975. In 1985, he also attended the University of Houston and earned a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering.
Bob began his professional career with Texas Instruments in Florida and Dallas, Texas. He transitioned to the energy industry, initially with Texaco in Midland and later with Transco, Enron and TEPPCO in Houston. He left corporate life for a time and opened Mr. B's, a restaurant and bar supply business. The entrepreneur Bob even became a cattle rancher with the "Mickey Mouse" Cattle Company in the 1980's. He returned to the energy business with Enterprise Products in Houston in 2002 and ended his professional career as a Regional Engineer in 2011 retiring for ‘life on the lake'.
Bob loved living on the water, loved having his friends close-by, loved entertaining and making those around him feel special and glad. Bob often hosted get-togethers on his deck overlooking the lake and was more than happy to take folks for a boat ride so they might enjoy the lifestyle he so treasured.
Bob also volunteered with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo every year.
He is survived by his brother, Jon Zimmers, step-sister Joan Blakely, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at 2 pm, on Saturday, January 12th, at Barge 295 (one of his favorite places) on Clear Lake. (http://barge295.com/)
