Rodney Lee Mayfield

Rodney was born to parents Michael G. Mayfield and Kathleen D. Mayfield (Duren) in Modesto, CA, their first-born child. Rodney received his BS degree in education from Stanislaus State, CA. Rodney moved to Texas with a new faith community and got a job teaching in Tomball ISD, 6th grade Science. He later met and married Catherine and became a father figure to her two children, Alec and Autumn (6 months), who called him RaRa. Becoming RaRa was the highlight of his life, bringing immeasurable joy and fulfillment to him. After about 10 years of marriage, they divorced but Rodney continued to try and be a part of the children’s lives as much as he could. Rodney met Sarah (Pepper) Haynes who became his cherished partner, and he was a father figure to the children in Pepper’s family - Christian, Kelsey, Evan and Audrey.
He is survived by his Father, Mother, brother Robert and his wife Kristi and their daughters June and Elsie as well as by his brother Roger’s wife Michelle Mayfield and their daughter Mia. He was preceded in death by his brother Roger (April 2023), and all his grandparents. Rodney was loved by so many people; friends, students, coworkers, members of his faith community and basically anyone that he came into contact with. We will all miss him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be determined both in Houston at Live Oak Friends Meeting and in Modesto, CA.
