Ronald Lyon, 83, of Houston, TX, passed away on March 4, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on March 6, 1941, in Warren, AR, to James and Verna (Williams) Lyon, Ronald dedicated his life to family, hard work, and service. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served in Vietnam before beginning his career as a pipefitter at Ethyl Corporation. Known for his strong work ethic and dependability, he later retired from Albemarle Corporation in 2001. He fondly remembered his days at Ethyl and Albemarle, where sharing stories with friends and coworkers brought countless hours of laughter and entertainment.
A devoted husband to Charlene Lyon, Ronald was a loving father to Shelly, BJ, Aaron & Amber. His greatest joy was being "Pawpaw" to his 11 grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He never missed an opportunity to support them, especially at their ball games, where he was their biggest fan.
Ronald found happiness in the simple things—hunting, making knives, working on cars, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed road-tripping, always up for a drive to explore new places or visit loved ones. He also loved sharing his knowledge, whether it was a skill he had mastered or simply wisdom from his years of experience.
He was the kind of man who would drop everything to help someone in need, always putting others before himself. He was not only a devoted husband, father, and grandfather but also the best brother-in-law and a loyal friend to many. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends will forever be cherished.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, James and Verna Lyon; his brothers, Jimmie and Donald Lyon; Sister-in-law, Joyce Lyon; and his Brothers-in-law, Duncan Chapman, Chris Griggs, Billy Wester and Larry English.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Charlene; his children and grandchildren: Shelly Burns and husband Willie, along with their children, Gene, Corabelle, and Rowdy of Donie, TX; BJ Lyon and wife Kendra, with their son, Brayden of Pearland, TX; Aaron Pack and wife Michelle, with their children, Cameron and Samuel of Houston, TX; and Amber Goss and husband Jackie, with their children, Grayson, Chase, Reagan, Carson, and Rylee of Seabrook, TX.
He is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Delores Lyon of Houston, TX; Sue Wester of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; Linda Chapman of Houston, TX; DeeGee English of Rosman, NC; and Margaret Griggs of Wallace, SC, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Ronald’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will forever be treasured by his family and friends.
