Ronald Sanders

August 27, 1939 — March 3, 2019

Ronald Dean Sanders, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at the age of 79 on Sunday, March 3, 2019 after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer. Born on August 27, 1939 in Palacios, TX, he was the youngest of six children born to Robert and Daisy Mae Sanders. After graduating from Palacios High School, he worked with his father and brothers on shrimping boats in Matagorda and Tres Palacios Bay, TX.

Ron left the commercial fishing business to attend Southwestern Business University in Houston Texas, where he met his first wife Mary Murphy. After graduating in 1962, with a degree in drafting, he began a long and successful career with Edminster, Hinshaw, Russ & Associates, then Steffek and Van De Wiele Engineering. In the early 1980's with a partner, he also launched M&S Contractors.

Ron and Diane married in 1987. Never one to sit around, Ron gained his Real Estate license, and worked with Century 21 and RE/MAX. Years later, together with Diane, they formed Sanders Family Real Estate.

Ron's greatest achievement in life was his family. There were many family gatherings enjoyed in the backyard barbequing, laughing and sitting around the table talking. Ron also enjoyed traveling, playing golf, rebuilding cars and hunting.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Diane Sanders, his children; Vicki Sanders, Scott and wife Amy Sanders, Austin Sanders and cherished grandchildren Paige and husband Jared Irvine, Rachael and Emily Sanders and great-granddaughter Harley Irvine. Ron is also survived by his sister Jesse Hairston of Dallas, Tx, his father-in-law, Donald Sherman, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Second Baptist Church (in the Williams House), West Campus, 19449 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77094 at 1 pm. A reception will follow in the adjoining reception area.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting In-Honor donations made to either of Ron's favorite charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org or the Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org. Tributes may be left at www.IntegrityFuneral.com
