Ruth Donley

December 12, 1959 — September 17, 2023

Ruth "Ruthie" Donley, 63, of Cypress, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023, with her brother Tom reading to her from the Bible and her most favorite Paddington Bear stories.

Ruthie was born on December 12, 1959, in Colver, Pennsylvania, the sixth child of Joseph & Ruth Donley. She grew up outside of Nanty-Glo, a small coal mining town of Cambria County in a crossroads village, Mundy's Corner, along 'The Old Road'.

Ruthie was a loving, giving, and loyal woman who never hesitated to help and support her family, friends, and strangers. Ruthie had a smile that would light up a room.

Ruthie is survived by her sisters, Patty, Julie, and Mary Jo, and her brothers, Joe and Tom; sisters-in-law Cheryl and Pamela, along with nephews and nieces, with whom she had a very special relationship, Christopher Beck, Joseph Bayer, Tom Calandriello, Joseph Donley III, Sarah Calandriello, Caitlin Turner, and Hayley Constantine.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth O. Donley, and father, Joseph M. Donley, who passed away many years ago.

Ruthie attended St. Mary's Catholic School for her primary education and later graduated from Bishop Carroll High School. She attended Penn State University (Altoona Campus) and after moving to Texas, continued her education at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.

Ruthie had a successful career with Continental Airlines, lasting 27 years within the Operations Department in Houston, Texas; throughout her tenure, she held various positions and advanced within the company.

Outside of work, Ruthie had a passion for exercise and for Paws, her dog with whom she never could spend too much time. Ruthie also enjoyed spending time tending to her flock of Cardinals at her home in Spring, Texas. She had a talent for photography and was known for her excellent baking skills, especially cookies during the holiday season. Ruthie enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home with Christmas being her favorite season. She, with her sister Julie, was a loyal and loving caregiver to her father during his final phase, earning the endearing nickname “angel” from him. Ruthie was the glue that held the family not only together but also very close.

Ruthie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her warm-hearted nature and dedication to her loved ones will forever be cherished.
