Samir Mahshie

June 5, 1948 — September 14, 2022

Samir Salem Mahshie, age 74, of Kingwood, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2022 following a brief illness. He was born on June 5, 1948 in Beirut, Lebanon to Salem and Rose (Sabbagh) Mahshie. Shortly after Samir was born, he was baptized into the family of God. Samir was the 2nd oldest of 9 children. He lived with his family in Beirut for the first 8 years and in November of 1955, they sailed to the United States and settled in Syracuse, New York, where they were greeted by many family members who supported their start here in the US. Samir and his siblings started grade school speaking no English. Being diligent to his studies he graduated from Central High School in 1968. After graduation, he served the United States by enlisting in the US Navy, serving on the ship USS Samuel Gompers A.D. 37 with his brother Nabil. Samir had an entrepreneurial spirit. He loved opening new businesses and opened many businesses across the United States during his working career. He finished out his working career with United Airlines in West Palm Beach, FL, St. Louis, MO and Houston, TX.

Samir was known for having OCD, Obsessive Christmas Disorder. Over 15 years, he would love to decorate the WHOLE house for Christmas inviting friends, family and neighbors to walk through the winter wonderland he would create. Hundreds of toys were collected benefitting many children through HAMM, Mission Northeast, St Stephen’s Ministry, and Toys for Joy.

On July 25, 1992, Samir married Pamela Nell in St. Louis, MO. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Pamela, sons Najeeb (Courtney) of Crosby, TX and Elias of Tallahassee, FL. Grandsons Kaysen and Hudsyn of Crosby. He is further survived by his siblings: Nabil (Maralyn) of Houston, TX, Antoinette Engelbert, Kamal(Sue), Roy (Nadia), John (Sharla) all of Port Charlotte, FL and Diab of Syracuse, NY. Sister/ Brother-in-law Tina and Rick Ulrich of Lake Mills, WI, as well as 16 nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Samir was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elias and Tony, brother-in-law Daniel Engelbert and mother/father-in-law Marion and Leroy Nell. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Ps 116:15

The family would like to thank all of the many friends who have supported and encouraged us through this journey and pray you will find joy that comes from knowing Samir is now celebrating with his Lord and Savior in heaven.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 10:00 am at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 3803 West Lake Houston Parkway Kingwood, with Pastor Al Doering officiating. The Service will be live streamed for those not able to attend in person. Burial with Military Rights will take place at Houston National Cemetery. Memorials can be given to Christ the King, or the Veterans Healing farm in Henderson NC in memory of Samir.
