Shirley Winford

Shirley Price Ross Winford passed away Thursday October 22, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born in West Springfield, MA on May 7, 1924 to Harry Dauphin and Jemine Walker Ross. She is survived by her son, Walter Ross Moriarty, twins Robert James and James Robert Moriarty, her older sister Mary Elizabeth (Mae) Ross Devecchis of West Hartford, Connecticut, and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her longtime friend and husband Dr. Albert Clement (Clem) Winford, her three brothers Ernest Price Ross, Lewis Dauphin Ross, and Robert Elmer Ross, and two sisters, Ruby Janet Ross Lange, and Vera Virginia. She also lost two of her children, Patricia Lee Monro, and Fred Lee Wilson. She was a longtime resident of the Garden Oaks area of Houston and retired from Vita Fresh Orange Juice Company several years ago. She had a passion for raising African Violets, roses and orchids. She loved Cocker Spaniels and has several longtime companions, including Nipper and Cutie. Her last wishes will be honored, and she will be cremated with her ashes to be scattered. The memorial will be held at the Houston Arboretum on Tuesday 10/27/2015 at 2:00pm. The family asks that donations be made to the Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Houston, in lieu of flowers.
