Susan Elizabeth Shetlar-Holler, 60, of Houston, TX passed away December 6, 2016. A memorial service will be held at Cornerstone United Methodist Church 18081 West Road, Houston, TX 77095 Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 2:00 PM. She is survived by her sister (Debbie) Debra Jane Shetlar, brother David John Shetlar, daughter Taye Nicole Holler and son Johnny Gray Owens. She was born in Hong Kong and adopted at the age of 2 by her loving parents Marvin and Clara Shetlar. She graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock Texas and earned her degree in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University. There will never be another Susy. She was loved by many for her sweet and caring nature, fun personality and constantly putting others first. Friends, family, and strangers will forever be touched by her amazing smile, big hugs and usually a bag of thoughtful gifts. She was the best mother any son or daughter could have. She taught the value of putting others first, never to be embarrassed by your actions if they are true to your heart and the real meaning of family. Susy truly shined as a teacher. She adored her young students and they adored her back. She always went the extra mile for her students including tutoring, mentorship and opening her home if they ever needed her help. She could not walk in public without a former or current student running up to her for a hug. She had a passion for collecting Wedgewood, Lladro and Precious Moments figurines, all things horses and Beanie baby dolls. Her enthusiasm for her collectibles was unrivaled. We will miss you dearly our precious sister, mother, teacher and friend. You have left us too soon and all of our hearts are broken. We will forever light a candle and think of you.
