Terrilynn Steele

Terrilynn Phillips was born in Pontiac Michigan to Keith and Joan Phillips on January 26, 1961. She grew up in Berkley Michigan just outside of Detroit. She graduated from Berkley High School in June 1979. During all 4 years of attendance she was on the honor roll list. Terri lettered as a varsity Cheerleader and Gymnast. In September 1979 she began her studies at the University of Michigan completing her degree in the School of Nursing, in March 1983 with a minor in Science. She began her nursing career at the University Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan from 1978 to 1984, achieving the position of Charge Nurse. In the fall of 1984 Terri moved to Houston Texas to work at Hermann Hospital. Terri had held various management positions at Herman, eventually being promoted to Director of Nursing. She left Hermann Hospital in 1991 to pursue a Masters' of Science in Nursing. She attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston beginning in the fall 1991. She received the distinguished honor of making the National Dean's List 3 straight semesters. She worked at several hospitals and clinics around the Houston area, finally residing at The Menninger Clinic. Terri was hired in as Manager over the Nursing Unit at Menninger in October 2006 and was eventually assigned as Education Coordinator in 2011. While still working part time at Menninger, in September 2014, she decided to join the Cy-Fair ISD nursing pool as a substitute nurse attending to children. Terri enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean and many other beaches across America but her first love was back home at Ore Lake, her childhood summer vacation cottage. She loved early morning walks, fishing, water sports and experiencing quiet nature filled atmosphere of lake living. On June 1, 1991, Terri met her future husband Blake Steele. This was her last day at Herman and she also won a computer from work that day. She considered June 1, 1991 as one of the best days of her life. They continued to celebrate that day every year thereafter. On their first date to his friend's wedding, despite the anxiety of the sure scrutiny he would receive by his friends, he proceeded with great confidence of their future together. Blake and Terri were married in Ochoa Rios Jamaica on February 24, 1996. Terri lead her family to First Metropolitan Church in 1997. She worked for the childcare , the Mission of Yahweh ministries and other ministries at First Met. She belongs to the Transformation Fulfillment hour study class. Terri is survived by her husband Blake and their three children and one granddaughter, Jennifer, Kendra, and Kaylyn and granddaughter Arilynn. Terri's parents Keith Phillips (wife - Sara), Joan Phillips (Larry Grotts), Siblings Dale Phillips (wife - Tammy) and Penny Mayre (husband - Kurt), Step-brothers - Rick Phillips (wife - Mary), Randy Phillips (wife - Melissa), Sara Hoff (Husband - Jeff). Mother- in-law, Mae Steele. Sister-in-laws, Wanda Littles, Louise Wilhoite, Karen Steele. Brother in law Teddie Steele and numerous nieces and nephews.
