Virginia Louise Bowerman December 15, 1926 -- November 24, 2016 Virginia Bowerman left this life just shy of her 90th birthday. She resided at Brookdale at Shadowlake Assisted Living, where she was loved and enjoyed by all. Never did we arrive without at least one of the caregivers coming up to us to say how much she was enjoyed by all. It was all about humor. Her closest relationships always included humor and good laughs. She was drawn to outgoing, fun loving people. She also had a green thumb and derived a lot of pleasure from gardening. Virginia grew up in Denison, Texas, where she had a successful school career. She was honored as Best All Round Girl, was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps and loved to dance. Virginia and her dance partner were known for clearing the dance floor. She always loved those memories. Even though she lived in Houston for 44 years, she remained a small town girl. Virginia and her husband, Harold Bowerman (December 1924 - April 2004), were married on Christmas Eve, 1944. Harold was on leave from the US Navy and they took advantage of the time to have a quiet wedding at the home of Virginia's parents in Dennison. Afterward, they moved to San Francisco where her new husband was stationed. Virginia is survived by daughter Sharon Seligman, son Edward Bowerman and daughter-in-law, Taffy Bowerman; four grandchildren Kyle Nunnallee, Christopher Nunnallee, Casey Bowerman, and Deborah Bowerman and; three great grandchildren, Patrick Nunnallee, Carollan Nunnallee and Jackson Nunnallee. Sadly, Virginia's eldest son David Bowerman pre-deceased her in 2009. Those who knew Virginia have often enjoyed stories about how this "child of the Great Depression" knew how to pinch a penny! She was also a loyal wife and parent, no matter the circumstance. During challenging times, Virginia always rose to the occasion, to do her best, even when she was the singular caregiver for her ailing husband and could see no solution. She will be remembered by her funny responses and shared experiences and we will toast her almost 90th birthday. Services will be held at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77024, (713) 782-1710 (Monday, December 5th at Noon) Donations, in lieu of flowers, to: Mental Health America of Greater Houston, at, http://www.mhahouston.org; Michael J.
