Walter Mueller, Jr age 92, was called from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant on April 10, 2020. Walt was born August 6, 1927 in Chester, Illinois to Ethel Albers Mueller and Walter O. Mueller. Walt's mother passed away when he was an infant. He was raised by his Grandmother and Grandfather Mueller for the first 7 years of his life, then his father and stepmother Gertrude Mueller upon his father's remarriage. He was confirmed on April 9, 1941 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Steelville, Ill.
Walter was a WWII Navy veteran. He served our great nation on the Island of Saipan until his honorable discharge in August of 1946. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1953 with a degree in education.
Walt spent his working years as a General Agent for Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) for 39 years. He was an avid golfer and member of Pecan Grove Country Club for many years. Walt founded & served as the 1st President of the Pecan Grove Senior Men's Golf Association. He loved the outdoors, fishing, piddling in both the garden & garage, along with shopping at Walmart.
Walter was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many. He loved his family dearly! After the death of his first wife, Loretta Heap, Walter married Lynn Johnsen who took care of him and was by his side for the past 6 years.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Ethel, brother Monty, his father Walter O, stepmother Gertrude, and 1st wife Loretta. He is survived by his wife Lynn, sons Scott & David (Eva) Mueller, granddaughters Leah, Lindsey & Lexis Mueller, brother Jerry (Carlotta) Mueller, sister Yvonne (Bill) Rabe, along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A private viewing and prayer service will be held due to current social distancing requirements. Interment will be at Memorial Oaks Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Joy Lutheran Church 717 FM 359 Richmond, TX 77406.
